The Boulder Municipal Airport invites interested businesses to provide input on the airport’s newly proposed Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal. The US Department of Transportation DBE program gives small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals a fair chance to compete for federally funded transportation contracts.
The proposed goal is 2.74% for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funded contracts and agreements from federal fiscal years 2024 through 2026. The city encourages interested DBEs, historically excluded communities, women, general contractor groups, community organizations, and other officials or organizations to learn more and provide input. There are three ways to participate:

- The proposed goal and its methodology are also available for review in person until Feb. 19 from Tuesday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Boulder Municipal Airport, 3327 Airport Road, Boulder, CO 80301.
- Businesses can submit comments to the city’s contracted Airport Planner, Justin Heid, at justin@theaviationplanninggroup.com. Comments will be accepted through Feb. 19, 2024.
DBE recruitment is part of the city’s existing commitments to the Federal Aviation Administration and is unrelated to the Airport Community Conversation project. The city is also engaged in a disparity study to investigate disparities in city contracting, which will inform city policy for small and minority business goals early next year.
