The Design Advisory Board typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. The board will meet either in the City Council Chambers, 1777 Broadway or hold the meeting virtually. The dates, times and locations are subject to change.

Speaking at the Design Advisory Board Meeting Instructions
Any correspondence you wish the Board to review MUST be received via email at least 48 hours prior to the beginning of the meeting. Anything received after the 48 hour window has closed will not be considered.
- Submit written comments in advance of the hearing to DAB@bouldercolorado.gov. Please note that we currently CANNOT accept mail. Only email will be received at this time.
- There is no sign-up form for public comment at the Design Advisory Board meetings. Public comment will be taken at the designated time during the meeting.
- Speak under public comment or observe the public hearing via video conference. The conference link will be at the top of the agenda on the appropriate event page.
- Call in to the public hearing video conference via telephone (if computer audio is not available).

About the Board
The purpose of the Design Advisory Board is to encourage thoughtful, well-designed development projects that are sensitive to the existing character of an area, or the character established by adopted design guidelines or plans for the area.
As established in 2-3-18, the Design Advisory Board is a City Council-appointed board consisting of 5 Boulder residents. 2 of the 5 board members are required to be design professionals, while the remaining 3 members may be appointed without any professional design limitations.
The Design Advisory Board (DAB) reviews exterior construction proposals located in the Downtown Non-Historic and Interface Areas that are valued over $25,000. The exception to this rule are historic properties or eligible historic properties which are reviewed by the Landmarks Board. The board reviews these proposals for conformance to the Downtown Urban Design Guidelines, specifically the Non-Historic and Interface Area criteria.
If requested by the city manager, planning board or city council, the board may review projects located outside of the Downtown for conformance to adopted design guidelines, area plans or building design related criteria from 9-2-14. - Site Review.
Scheduling a design review with DAB is mandatory if the project meets the above requirements. It is the responsibility of the property owner, developer, or their representative to coordinate with the Planning and Development Services.
