To facilitate and assist community groups with access and affordability of performance venues, the Boulder Arts Commission and Roots Music Project offer up to 11 days per calendar year of rent-free space at Roots Music Project.

Roots Music Project (RMP), a music incubator space in Boulder, empowers artists, audiences and venues to connect and create a thriving local music scene. Located at 4747 Pearl, Suite V3A, RMP is offering up to 11 days of rent-free space in 2024 through the Boulder Arts Commission waiver program.

“Roots Music Project is thrilled to be part of Boulder's Arts Commission Fee Waiver program, as we believe it will greatly benefit the broader community of artists and community organizations, with a particular emphasis on our performing musical arts community,” said Jesse Ogle, Community Development Director at RMP. “Our primary objective is to provide assistance to artists who wish to produce their own shows outside of our internal programming, enabling them to exercise full creative control over their artistic vision. We aim to support creative works, community events, non-profits and organizations that celebrate cultural diversity, empower underserved population and produce events that contribute to the growth of our music scene.”

Organizations and individuals are eligible for one day of fee waiver annually. Program guidelines, eligibility and applications can be found at the Boulder Office of Arts and Culture webpage. Learn more about RMP by visiting their website.

The award is for facility rent only; the applicant is responsible for direct labor costs for technical staff, ushers, security personnel, etc. The Boulder Arts Commission offers additional support to help with these costs by application to the Boulder Arts Commission’s Venue and Online Event Affordability Fund, subject to availability of the grants.
