You Can Make a Difference

From sharing your perspective with your elected officials to volunteering for your favorite cause and leveraging city programs to build community in your neighborhood, there are many ways to get engaged with your local government. The Communication and Engagement Department is responsible for coordinating many of these opportunities for public input.

Ways to Engage in Local Government

Join a Public Meeting

  1. Attend a City Council Meeting

    City Council examines issues and solicits public input to set city policies. Members of the public can sign up to speak to council at regular meetings. View the City Council meeting schedule and learn how to participate.

  2. Attend a Board or Commission Meeting

    Topic-specific advisory explore issues, conduct community engagement and provide guidance to City Council. Some also perform regulatory and oversight functions. View the public meeting schedule. Several board meetings are recorded.

  3. Attend a City Open House

    The city holds in-person and virtual events to seek public input on projects. View the city calendar for upcoming events.

Share Input on City Projects Online

Be Heard Boulder is the city's online, 24/7 digital engagement platform. Share your feedback on a variety of projects from the convenience of your computer or phone.

Volunteer With the City

Many city departments offer one-time and ongoing opportunities for volunteers. We're also interested in hearing from you about other skills you'd like to offer, so we can look for potential ways to match you with work groups.
